Sound familiar?
Do walks feel like a battle? Your dog lunging, barking, pulling you off balance?
Are you planning routes around 'safe' times just to avoid other dogs?
Do you feel embarrassed by your dog's reactions in public?
Have you found yourself in tears after a walk?
Are you avoiding friends, family, and days out because of your dog?
Do you scan every corner instead of enjoying the walk?
Is there a knot in your stomach every time you pick up the lead?
Are you scared your dog might hurt another dog or someone else?
Do you feel guilty for even thinking about giving up?
"I get it. The dread before every walk. The embarrassment when your dog kicks off. The guilt when you wonder if you're the problem."
You're not a bad owner. Your dog isn't broken. You just haven't found the right person yet. Someone who actually understands rescue dogs and can show you a way forward that works.

Meet Your Trainer
Founder, Deans Canine Leaders
I grew up in a dog training family. My dad was a trainer. I went into business coaching for years but kept my passion alive by volunteering at shelters like Dogs Trust and working with other trainers to keep learning.
Four years ago I set up Deans Canine Leaders because I saw too many rescue dogs being misunderstood. Reactivity isn't a character flaw. It's usually fear, frustration, or a lack of guidance. And it can be changed.
I don't just train your dog. I coach you to become the leader your dog needs. Training happens where life happens. In your neighbourhood, at the park, on the streets you walk every day. Real-world results that stick.
"The relationship comes first. Everything else follows."
How It Works

We start with a chat. You tell me about your dog, your struggles, and what you want to achieve. I listen and we work out if I'm the right fit.

I assess your dog's specific triggers and emotional patterns. No cookie-cutter approach. Your dog is unique and the plan will be too.

We work together through a structured programme. You'll learn to communicate with your dog in a way they actually understand.

Training doesn't end in a controlled environment. We take it to the streets, the parks, the real world. Where it matters.
What's Included
Built around your dog's specific triggers, temperament, and your lifestyle. No templates. No one-size-fits-all.
You'll learn the 'why' behind every technique. Understanding your dog's behaviour means you can keep the progress going long after sessions end.
Training happens in your environment. Your neighbourhood, your parks, your daily routine. Because that's where results need to show up.
Questions don't stop when sessions end. You'll have direct access to me on WhatsApp for guidance and support between sessions.
Rescue dogs carry baggage. Their history matters. I understand the unique challenges that come with rescue dogs and how to work through them.
Commands are secondary. The real transformation happens when trust, clarity, and communication become the foundation of your relationship.

Real Results
"We went from being stressed and scared to being confident and loving our walks. It's hard to believe that in only 4 sessions Tila is now walking well on the lead. Dean is patient, explains things well and Tila absolutely loved him."
Sophie
Reactive rescue dog
"At the start of this year Sid was very reactive to other dogs. He would pull, bark and lunge at every dog we met. Fast forward to today and his reactivity is all but gone. None of this would've been possible without Dean."
Sean
Reactive Golden Retriever
"Dean was absolutely incredible with our dog reactive mini dachshund. As a sausage dog owner I thought we'd never be able to walk past a dog without Louie kicking off. Dean was determined to help us and we saw a massive improvement."

Common Questions

Don't Wait
Reactivity doesn't improve on its own. The longer it goes, the deeper the patterns become. For your dog and for you. The stress, the isolation, the worry. It builds up.
The Zoom consultation is free. The only thing you have to lose is another day of dreading the lead.
Get in touch today. Let's talk about your dog, your goals, and how we can transform your walks together.
